On Sunday members of the ������ý’s Northern California Boards of Regents gathered at the historic Chateau Montelena Winery in Calistoga for a tour and wine-tasting, courtesy of a dear friend of the ������ý, Judy Barrett.

The members of the two boards, which represent the Bay Area and Sacramento regions, serve as ambassadors in their communities, introducing the ������ý and its unique program of Catholic liberal education to new friends and prospective students. More than 30 attendees participated in Sunday’s event, hosted by Mrs. Barrett, the winery’s owner and the wife of late ������ý Governor James Barrett.

“We were delighted to taste some excellent wines and to tour the winery grounds, including the production areas and the chateau,” said ������ý Vice President Paul J. O’Reilly. Additionally Dr. O’Reilly and the Bob Andrews, vice chairman of the Bay Area Board of Regents, gave brief presentations about the ������ý and its two upcoming, weekend-long Summer Seminars. “The Summer Seminar is a wonderful way for people to get a taste of the life of the ������ý,” said Dr. O’Reilly. “It is two nights and two days of great books, thoughtful conversation, fine food, and delightful company.” The theme for this year’s seminars, which will be held on July 11-13 and July 18-21 is, “Reading the Scriptures: The Wisdom of Genesis.”

“We could not have asked for a better day or a better group to spend it with,” said Dr. O’Reilly. “We are profoundly grateful to Mrs. Barrett for hosting us, and for her faithful friendship to the ������ý over these many years.”
